In the United States, 1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime; and, approximately 1 million women live with breast cancer because they are not diagnosed.
Last Tuesday was the annual Pink Ribbon Luncheon, Tutus for Tatas. The purpose of the luncheon is to raise money for the Pink Ribbon Fund in the Norville Breast Cancer Center. This fund allows women access to necessary diagnostic procedures they may not otherwise be able to afford. For women found to have a malignancy, the fund provides for breast cancer therapy essentials, such as wigs, medical supplies and the basic necessities of life.
This year, staff member, Paula Lowe served on the Pink Ribbon Committee and hosted a table. Her husband, Jim Lowe, also participated by dancing with a group of men in pink tutus in order to help raise money through “tips”.

Each year, the Pink Ribbon Luncheon raises thousands of dollars to help women who cannot afford their own diagnostic healthcare. Last year alone, the luncheon raised over $38,000 towards the Pink Ribbon Fund. The dancers raised over $2,000 in “tips” at the event, but are still working towards their goal of $10,000. We are so proud to be a part of a community that supports such an amazing cause.
